WHAT IS PET?
Polyethylene terephthalate, commonly abbreviated as PET.
PET Is a thermoplastic polymer resin commonly used in beverage, food and other liquid containers.
Recycled PET usually is used for manufacturing automotive parts, furnitures, carpets, polar fleece material. It can also be used for making fiber for polyester products, etc.
It has also been used for non-food and non-beverage related products.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF A BOTTLE IS PET?
The resin identification code can be used to verify the type of plastic the bottle is made of: many plastic bottles have the letters PET or PETE and a number 1 on the bottom close to the center, like the example:

In order to ensure a successful recycling process, please always remove the lids of the bottles and rinse them out thoroughly. Extraneous material inhibits the re-use ability of the PET.
Please, remember the following procedure when putting out your Pet Bottles and Plastic Bottles for collection.
- It is better if you collect soda and water bottles. NOT toxic liquids containers.
- The bottle must be transparent (even though it has a green or blue shade)
- If it is possible, remove the label.
- Preferentemente desprender la etiqueta o asegurarse que se desprende fácilmente.
- Compress bottles for reducing packing space.
